Congratulations to Dr. deVries!

The AUA Urology Care Foundation has announced that Dr. Catherine R. deVries has been named the recipient of the Foundation’s inaugural 2021 Humanitarian Recognition Award.

The Urology Care Foundation Humanitarian Recognition Award aims to acknowledge an individual, or individuals, for their demonstrated commitment to improving access to quality urologic health care in underserved communities and populations. Dr. deVries has been recognized as a leader in the advancement of global surgical care for many years and continues to exemplify the spirit of philanthropy as evidenced by her more than 30 years of humanitarian work.

Dr. deVries was also the WSAUA 2013 Distinguished Member. As a pediatric urologist at University of Utah, Catherine deVries cares for children with congenital and acquired diseases of the urinary tract and genitalia. As a Professor of Urology, she practices at Primary Children's Medical Center in Utah. Her areas of particular interest are neurogenic bladder associated with spina bifida and birth defects of the genitalia. Her work extends overseas to teaching pediatric and reconstructive urology in low resource countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
