2014-2015 AUA Gallagher Health Policy Scholar Program
Application Deadline: October 18, 2013
Apply at https://www.auanet.org/common/pdf/advocacy/gallagher/Gallagher-Scholar-App.pdf
Overview of the Program:
Applicants must be AUA member urologists who have demonstrated a commitment to or have a keen interest in the field of health policy and who are dedicated to advancing urology’s health policy agenda. Training includes mentoring from seasoned physician volunteers, participation in key meetings and conferences, and study of selected didactic articles. One urologist per year will be selected for the program. Participants will, over the course of the program, gain essential knowledge about policy issues that impact urology—including coding and reimbursement processes, relevant legislation and regulations, and other challenges to and changes in the practice of urology (such as the adoption of electronic health records, proposed federal payment models and integration of ancillary services) During the course of their one-year obligation, the scholar will spend up to 30 days away from their practice or academic appointment on a variety of activities. A stipend of $15,000 and reimbursement of travel and other expenses will be provided over the course of the year-long program. For more information, email Christina Saunders, AUA Health Policy Division at csaunders@AUAnet.org.
Interested urologists are required to submit the following: application, curriculum vitae; a statement of interest in the program (500 word essay); photograph, and two letters of recommendation. Applicants will be notified by December 6, 2013.
